7 Years, 11 Months...Christmas time

Our class got to have a holiday party on our last day before Christmas break.  Parents weren't allowed to come, but Mommy was able to show up since she works there.  Mrs. Heath made us hot cocoa and we made crafts.  The next day Mommy and Ellie painted Ellie's room downstairs while Daddy worked, and I was so disappointed that they wouldn't let me paint.

Good thing Mommy took Ellie and me to Washington the next day!  We had a great visit with Grandma Rose, and laughed and told funny stories.  She got us each bibles and after we had her sign it, I discovered the page in the bible that she could sign.  Everyone laughed when I said, "Well, what do we have here?"  We went to Papa Ron's after that and celebrated with him and Linda.  Chase and Uncle Mark came over too.  It has been so long since I got to play with Chase!  I got my Enderman back that I left at their house!  We spent the night at Papa Ron's and went to Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom's the next day, where Daddy joined us.  I had so much fun seeing my cousins again and being there.  When we came home, we got Elmo ready to go back to the North Pole and set up for Santa.  We were going to go to Church at 11 PM, but we were way too tired!

We celebrated Christmas at home the next day, just like Ellie and I asked.  I got Ellie a Missouri Juniors t-shirt, and I got her old iPad!  I was so excited to have my own device! We played for a while and enjoyed our morning, and right before we were supposed to go to Aunt Lisa's, we got a call that Camille tested positive for Covid.  We were so disappointed, but we went to Nana Arden and Papa Rodney's later to give them their gifts on the back porch.  It wasn't what we wanted, but it had to do.

Our family spent a lot of time the next week at home playing.  We loved these small rubber chickens from Aunt Lisa that we could flick across the room and they stuck to the ceiling.  They were so much fun!  We spent time writing thank you notes.  It was a lot of work, but I did it!  On New Years Eve, we had Lila over for a little bit, until she felt sick and went home.  We got pizza and decorated sugar cookies which was fun.  I was so exhausted that I didn't care about staying up until midnight.    We took down the Christmas decorations on New Years Day.

I really wanted to go to Ellie's volleyball tournament on the 2nd, but they were limiting seating.  Mom ended up taking her and I stayed home with Dad.  The next day, Autumn got to come over to play and we had so much fun!  Who knew that was possible without screens?  Then, it was back to school.  I didn't want to leave home, but I was looking forward to seeing my friends.  I started going to math club on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school with Mrs. Heath.  We are doing a lot of fun measuring projects.  I was describing it at home and said that we "needed to have 5 inches sticks" (rulers) to measure it and everyone laughed.

Our school hosted The Masked Reader by Zoom again this year.  The masked readers were Miss Ziegler (a new 3rd grade teacher), Mrs. Hutcherson (our art teacher), and Mr. Akkerman (4th grade teacher and Ellie's old student teacher from 5th grade.)  Ellie missed out this year because of volleyball.  Ellie got her Covid booster and the whole family went to HyVee so I got to shop in the cart with mom.  I had been begging for Mom to make Dr. Bird cake or monkey bread for breakfast.  They didn't have biscuits at HyVee, so she made Dr. Bird cake the next morning.  Then I didn't want it the next day.

Mom tested positive for Covid on Wednesday morning and I got called to Nurse Jessica's office as a close contact.  Nurse Jessica said I asked some good questions and wished my mom well.  We got a few more home tests and the rest of us tested that night.  I totally freaked out because I did not like my throat or nose swabbed, but I did it.  Ellie was positive, Dad and I were negative.  So, we all quarantined to our own rooms.  I was able to go to school the next day and it was EEE day!  I bit into a banana at lunch and ended up in the nurse's office to pull out my tooth!  It wasn't even the really wiggly one, and only took three swishes of water to get the bleeding to stop.  Our school district gave us off today and next Monday and Tuesday.  I got to entertain myself with screens all day!
