8 1/2 Years Old...Friends, summer, Grandparents!

Mom and I tried to see Tom and Jerry in the movie theater with Autumn and Marion, but they couldn't get it to play so we got to see the new Minions movie instead.  It was a lot of fun and Autumn came over here to play afterwards.  We had swim lessons later that night.  I'm getting a lot better and more comfortable in the water, probably because of our week at the beach/pool.  Autumn and I had so much fun that we redid it watching Scoob the next week.

I had Sally over here to play one day.  We didn't do any screen time and we didn't fight at all!  We have been doing a lot online with CJ and it has not ended well.  I usually get my feelings hurt.  The next day, I was invited over to Tommy's house.  He was a summer school friend.  I was so excited and when I got there, his twin sister Tally had invited Jonathan from preschool!  The four of us had a blast!

Our church hosted Compassion Camp for a weekend, which is kind of like Vacation Bible School, except our whole families attended.  It was called a Great Big Beautiful World.  Lillian was in charge and it was a lot of fun!  Ellie and her friend Katie got to do some acting and helping with the stations.  We had a bible station, an art station, and a sports/games station (which Ellie helped run.)  Mom and Dad participated with us and it was a really nice family weekend.

Our family also went to the Lodge of the Four Seasons for a couple of days when dad had a conference there.  We went shopping and I got new Crocs and Jibbitz.  I now wear a size 5 and I love them!  Mom and I went swimming in the pool and played a lot of Marco Polo.  Ellie and I hung out in the hotel room with mom a lot and we had a squirrel join us on our deck.  We named him Thomas, and he was not afraid of us at all.  He really just wanted food! The night we got back, Mom and I went to school for Popsicles with the Principals.  It was super hot but I had fun playing Gaga ball.

I was able to do a volleyball clinic at Stephens College.  The 16s Missouri Juniors team hosted it to raise money.  I paired up with Camilla, a girl from my school.  I had a lot of fun running around.  Ellie came to watch me when they picked me up.  Ellie went to Worlds of Fun one day, so Mom declared it "Emily Day".  I got to choose my food, and we did a lot of playing.  I really enjoy one-on-one time.

Dad is officially back to work.  Mom, Ellie, and I got our hair cut and I decided to get several inches cut off.  I got rid of all my blonde and everyone is telling me that I look so much older.  I have been doing a lot of reading lately and started with Puppy Place.  I love that series, but Mom got me interested in the Goddess Girls series and  can't put the books down!

Papa Ron and Linda came for a visit one day.  Papa Ron took Mom, Ellie, and me out to eat at Applebees and Linda came over to our house after visiting with her daughter.  We played Dominos which was fun until I started losing.  I got really crabby and said that I don't have any luck.

This past week, I got to spend the week at Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom's while Mom went back to work.  I wasn't as homesick as I was before, but I ate them out of house and home!  We went shopping and I got some fancy rocks, some string to make dolls, and a new wolf stuffie named Willa.  (I really like the Zombies movies, and Willa the werewolf is my favorite.)  Grandma and I made lots of melty beads, we all played cards, and I made blueberry muffins.  I also went to Steak and Shake and Orange Leaf (twice!)  I may or may not have been spoiled this week.  Mom came to pick me up but she and Grandma went to a visitation for Auntie Heather's Dad so I got to hang out with Grandpa Tom.  I mostly listed to music and read.  The next day, Mom and I went to the funeral.  I was very patient and well behaved, but it was a long day and I was glad to get home.

While I was in Washington, I missed Meet the Teacher night.  I got to FaceTime my teacher Mrs. Cassidy.  I don't know many people in my class so I was kind of sad about that.  I was kind of sad too because I was hoping to have Miss Ziegler.  It will be ok, because Mrs. Cassidy's name is Emily!  Her room is green and rainbow themed!

Today we went to Church and they did a blessing of the backpacks.  We received a cool "Peace be upon you" tag along with our blessing.  Tonight, we went to Corinne's birthday party at Papa Rodney's office.  Tomorrow is the last day of summer and school starts Tuesday!  Ready or not!
