Week 1: Welcome to the World!

Emily Kathleen Boyer was born on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 12:41pm.  She weighed 6lbs7oz and was 19.5" long (just like her sister). We are very excited to have her finally with us.
How it all started...I was due on February 25th, but since my big sister was 2 weeks early, Mommy really thought I was going to be really early.  Well, 4 days early, at 3:17 AM, Mommy felt a contraction that felt stronger than the ones she had felt before.  She didn't want to wake Daddy, so she went in the bathroom to time her contractions.  When she was sure they were consistent, she took a shower, which did wake Daddy.  She smiled and asked him, "Are you ready to have a baby today?"  They called the grandmas around 5:00 and Nana Arden came over to take my big sister to preschool while Grandma Kathy brought Mommy to the hospital (Daddy forgot to get gas the night before!)  Mommy also knew her doctor was on call at 7:00, so she waited until he was there to come in.
When they got to the hospital, Mommy was already dilated to a 5-6 and 100% effaced.  The contractions got really strong, and Mommy almost bit Daddy!  (She says she didn't know what she was doing!)  Mommy got an epidural after that, and Dr. Jones broke her water.  She felt better after this and rested a little until it was time to push.  The labor and delivery nurse asked her to sit back, but Mommy knew that always made her feel sick, so she asked to sit up.  She pushed through about 3 contractions until Dr. Jones came in and asked her to lay back.  That did the trick!  She pushed through one more contraction and Dr. Jones told her to stop.  Well, she stopped, but I didn't!  I kept sliding out!  Dr. Jones didn't even have time to put on gloves and caught me bare-handed!  I was only put on Mommy's tummy for a few seconds.  I was pretty blue and Dr. Jones cut my cord (Daddy didn't even get the chance) and they took me away!  I was only blue for a little bit and was great after that.
It was great to meet my big sister Ellie!  I knew her voice right away.
Here are some things Mommy and Daddy noticed about me during my first week:
I have long feet and long fingers that I love to put in my mouth
I have a long torso and short legs (just like Daddy)
I do NOT like to be cold!
I have a little hair, but not much.  It may even be a reddish blonde color (which Daddy doesn't want!)
My dark blue-gray eyes like to focus on anything and it looks like I am really thinking
I usually only cry when I am cold, getting my diaper changed, or really hungry
I love to put things in my mouth (besides my fingers, clothes, blankets, etc.)
I love to be swaddled and snuggled
Here are a few pictures and videos of my journey so far.
