4 Years, 11 Months...Good-bye to Nana Carol

This month started off really sad, even though it should have been a happy time.  Mommy left for Washington a couple days earlier for Christmas to be with Papa Ron while Nana Carol was in the hospital.  Daddy brought Ellie and me down for what would have been our Christmas celebration with them.  When we got there, Mommy told us that Nana Carol had died.  My comment was, "No more Nana Carol, forever?"  I knew it was sad, but I really wasn't sure what I was supposed to do.  We went to the Frankenberg Christmas so I got to see Papa Ron and give him a big hug!  I got to eat some chocolate cheesecake, and after the first bite, said to myself, "Oh yeah, this is good!"
We were able to have a few Christmas celebrations the next couple of days.  We visited Great-Grandma Rose and Great Uncle Clarence.  Mommy told me that he knew a lot about animals, so I was really excited to hear him talk about cheetahs!  I later discovered that she meant farm animals!  We went to visit Papa Ron and Uncle Mark, Aunt Julie, and Chase for a little bit before going to Grandma Kathy and Grandpa Tom's for Christmas.  It was nice to play with my cousins.  We headed home that night and said good-bye to Elmo.  The next morning was Christmas!  Ellie got me a Mizzou sweatshirt, and I got a horse and stable from Santa!  I really loved my Paw Patroller though!  I even brought it to Nana Arden's later that day because I wanted to play with something.  It seemed like I would open something fun and then have to pack it away.  We went to Nana Arden's in the morning, then I went back home for a nap and then went back over there.  It was a very busy couple of days!
We had a couple of quiet days at home to play.  I think I was overtired and stimulated.  I was in tears often because I wanted the stuff that Ellie got for Christmas.  I think it helped to get some of my new stuff out.  I am really enjoying my Calico Critters house.  The lights turn on and off!  While we were home, I started called mayonnaise "banannaise!"
We went back to Washington for Nana Carol's visitation and funeral.  I was able to get dressed up in a fancy silver party dress and had a lot of people want to see me.  Again, I really wasn't sure what I was supposed to do but I knew it was an important day.  Mommy and Daddy took me out to get new dresses for the funeral and we were "matchy-matchy".  We spent the night at Papa Ron's that night and slept in the same bed.  (That doesn't always go so well, but we managed!)  The next day was the funeral.  It wasn't as happy as the night before.  Nana Carol's grandkids brought up the communion, and Jessie held my hand.  I still talk about how nice she is!  After the funeral, we went to the Elk's to eat lunch and run around.  We then spent time as a small family to celebrate Nana Carol and play shuffleboard with Uncle Mark.
When we went back home, things went somewhat back to normal.  We had a few days off before going back to school.  I really enjoy learning how to read.  I can figure out many words and impress Mommy, Daddy, and Ellie every day!  We went to Carrie's house for New Year's Eve.  There were lots of kids there and we decorated gingerbread cookies, played games, and went crazy downstairs.
Since going back to school, we went to Aunt Lisa's house to have Shakespeare's because Aunt Michele was in town.  I love going over to Aunt Lisa's because she spoils me so much!  The next week, we got out of school early because we had a big snowstorm!  We had 17" of snow and when I tried to play in it, I just sank!  Ellie had gone to a friend's house and got stuck there all weekend!  Mommy, Daddy, and I went sledding, had snow ball fights, and made a snow man.  Once Ellie came back, we made a couple of snow forts.  It was a lot of fun!  We had a snow day and a couple of late starts.  I went to my best bud Nori's birthday party yesterday.  I really thought when she turned 5 that she wouldn't go to preschool anymore.  I was glad to hear I had a few more months with her!  On our day off today, Mommy took Ellie and me to get our 5 year and 10 year pictures!
